24th – 27th February: Glenorchy & Queenstown

Beautiful roadtrip to Queenstown (very nice mountains, amazing rocks and more mountains). Monty is doing so well :0

Reece Witherspoon – we already had the feeling that she was stalking us but when she (actually her boyfriend) parked their rental Austin Martin Vantage next to Monty we knew she was. Rick tried to swap car keys with them but somehow they refused. So, Rick actually did have a conversation with her.

On our way to Queenstown we stopped in cute little Arrowtown (Goldmining town) to wander around and had an awful milkshake.

In Queenstown we had to take some serious decisions: What adrenaline activities to book? We went for skydiving & the Nevis Bungy + Swing (for Rick).

The next two nights we stayed in Glenorchy. We just loved that small town!!

The first night we spent at a very cute camping, the second in front of a pub (they let you camp there for free if you consume something at the pub … well, you know us – they made some good profit). The owners did not want us to stay there in first place. Only after we told him that we planned to consume at least some beers there he turned friendly (idiot!!)

Glenorchy is very nice and you can see the scenery of the ‘Lord of the Rings” and visit Paradise.

Queenstown (most expensive camping so far)

Skydiving: We both were so excited, nervous and frightened the whole morning (during breakfast, at the NZone Check-in, in the bus, at the Dropzone, in the plane, at the edge of the plane and then: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa – parachute opened (“thank god”) – ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, so cool!

Bungy & the Swing:

I was so nervous at the Nevis Centre, in the bus and at the Jump Zone… the good thing was: I did not have to jump! Rick did!! I did not even dare to accompany him to either the first nor the second platforms. Crazy husband of mine. He did both jumps within 30 minutes. His scream was ok (some commented on the screams) but not as intense as others. Haha! He even managed to loosen up that leg thing which turns you from upside down, up again. That’s my guy!!! He loved it!
