Just a short note about our last few days in Bali.

After we left the Gili islands we went further on our scooter to a little town called Candidasa. We found a nice hotel next to the beach with great views and loads of restaurants nearby.

We followed once more Tripadvisor and found ourselved at Ari Home Stay & Hot Dog Shop. We had a great Burger (did not expect that) and were wondering what the sign "Free beer at 6pm' was all about?

The more we thought about it, the more Bulees (tourists/white people living there) arrived including the Aussie owner (an olderly man). At 6pm the owner hold a little welcome speech, everyone had to turn around his chair and under two chairs there was written: One free beer! This was hilarious...even though we did not win the free beer.

We had long talk with a Dutch guy living there with his very very young girlfriend (which was a little odd but she seemed to be happy with it). He gave us the strangest advise ever.

If you see an accident involving locals: Do not help! If you do help and something will happen to the injured (even if it is not your fault) they will blame you and you have to pay a lot of money to the families. If you are a doctor yourself: do not help either, You are on a holiday so if you help someone then you work, and that is not allowed. You will get fined for that.

This is crazy!

Padang Pai

We spent one night in Padang Pai as it looked nice on Google Images ...

There was nothing really going on here and we were a little disappointed as we expected a nice beach and not so many tourists. Well, we all know what happens when you expect too much, right? ...

Our hotel was nice so we chilled at the pool, just reading and swimming (me reading, Rick swimming).

We tried to find a nice restaurant for a sundowner but did not succeed so we went back to the place where we had breakfast (Tripadvisor: Dubbel Barrel Café but it is actually called Omang Omang).

We got to know James (the owner) who offered us a very nice cocktail and we sat at his table. They had this weird looking masks hanging at the wall and Rick wanted to know what they were. They are called Taylers Mistake Händskis and you can hand surf with them (you only need one btw). After some explanations and videos we really wanted to try handskiing so we just got one! James gave us one Händski for free (the coating was not good so they will not sell it).

We spent the whole night just chatting, telling jokes (well, I was not allowed to tell anymore jokes as I am not funny hahaha."No more jokes for you! Just put them back in the box ...") and laughing. It was a great, unexpected, night. Thank you for that!

The last days we stayed in Canggu again (at a very nice hotel outside the main tourist area).

Unfortunatly Rick got sick (very bad sore throat) so we did not do a lot the last days and mostly ate pizza at the same restaurant (Pizza e Berra).

Fortunatly my brother provided as with a medication box in case of emergeny so after 2 days Antibiotica Rick got better (just on time before flying off to Kuala Lumpur / Malaysia).

PS. On our last day we coincidently met James friend Hansi (Dutch) whom you can see on Youtube riding a Händski, He gave us two Händski hats and if we come back to Bali, will go surfing together.
